How to Treat Acne if You Have Dry Skin

by Sara Kitch

Since dry skin can also be sensitive it may become irritated when using a soapy cleanser. In order to avoid this you should use oil instead. Use a non-comedogenic oil like castor oil and olive oil. These oils are a great way of cleaning dry skin without clogging your pores. Another benefit is that these oils won't dry out your skin during the cleansing process.

To use oil, apply and massage 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil on your face. Remove it with a warm, moist washcloth. You can also place a hot, moist towel on your face for a few minutes before removing the oil.

When looking for more effective all natural treatments, try using tea tree oil instead of benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide can be effective for treating acne, but it can be too harsh for dry skin. Any products that you use on your face when combatting dry skin should never be too harsh in order to keep from irritating the skin.

This natural acne remedy is quite simple to use. Simply soak a cotton ball with water and add three to four drops of tea tree oil. Apply the diluted mix to the area of skin you'd like to treat. If your skin doesn't become easily irritated, then you can also use tea tree oil in its undiluted form.

Final step, apply your moisturizer. You can balance out the natural oils in your skin by applying the right amount of moisturizing cream to your skin. As a matter of fact, this can actually help reduce the frequency of acne breakouts. If you need to reapply moisturizer during the day, feel free to do so.

If your choice of skin care products is more inclined towards using traditional products and not natural acne solutions, make sure to do a patch test before applying a new product all over your face. Begin by using the product once a day or every other day. If you notice that your skin is accustomed with the product, increase the frequency of use.

Don't forget, an inadequate acne treatment can lead to acne scars. So, be careful to choose the right products for your skin care routine.
