Things to Remember in Nail Care
Nail care is important in personal hygiene as it can be a reflection as to how you take care of yourself. Bad nails will not only leave a bad impression on the people that we meet, but it also makes our nails prone to cracking. Cracked nails are very painful to deal with so it is best to avoid these situations and take care of your nails.
One problem which causes a lot of people to have bad nails is nail biting. This is a habit that a lot of people have a hard time getting rid of. This is because nail biting was usually developed while people are still young and it got stuck until they grew older. But this is not an excuse to keep on nail biting as seeing adults nail bite is really not a very good sight to see.
The only way to stop this bad habit is to decide when to stop it and do it. This problem will not go a way on its own so you should keep a constant effort and resist biting your nails even if you feel the urge to do it. One way to remind yourself is by wearing gloves or putting on nail polish so that you will first think twice instead of subconsciously biting on your nails again.
In addition to nail biting, some people may have naturally weak nails. This may be a result of having poor eating habits or due to excessive smoking and drinking. By putting in unhealthy food into the body, it will reflect on the different parts of the body such as the hair, skin and nails. Thus eating healthy foods will reverse this effect. Dipping nails in warm olive oil may also help in strengthening the nails.
Nail polish is also a good way to protect your nails. These do not only serve to beautify your nails, but it adds a protective barrier to your nails and prevents them from getting scratched or cracking too easily. Even guys may opt to use clear nail polish to help make their nails more presentable, especially if their work involves meeting and dealing with a lot of people.
One thing that you should be wary about when it comes to nail polish is that it is made from synthetic chemicals which can potentially weaken your nails if used for prolonged periods of time. This is why it is suggested that you rest your nails from time to time so that they would not be constantly exposed to these chemicals.
Even nail polish remover may have harmful effects on your nails. Acetone based removers usually cause nails to become dry, thus making them brittle and easy to break. The use of nail polish removers should be minimized and hand lotion can be used to help restore moisture in the nails.
By remembering these nail care tips together with the basic nail care habits, you should have no problems in having and maintaining beautiful hands and nails. Your nails will always leave a good impression with the people that you meet, and you won't have any problems with painful and weak nails.
