Scars - What Occurs when our Skin is Wounded?

by Martha Fitzharris

A scar is a mark left on the skin after an injury. Injuries that affect your skin will result in some level of scarring. Scarring is a result of the normal curative process of our skin and the aspect of a scar depends on depth, size and location of the injury.

How does scarring occur and how can we help our skin to get rid of scars?

As stated in the introduction, scarring is the normal curative process of an injury. The skin is left with a scar when the deeper and thicker layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The severity of the scar will depend on the severity of the injury.

Any time our skin gets injured by, for example a cut or an acne infection, various cells come to the rescue. This is the body's own way of shielding itself from damage. It is a very complex curative process that usually causes scarring.

The process begins with the constriction of blood vessels which form clots to minimize blood loss. A crust or scab will form over the top of the injury. This will act as a shielding barrier against foreign substances, protecting the system whilst fixing the problem.

To repair the damage, the body has to lay down new collagen fibers; a naturally occurring protein which is synthesized by our system. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen fibers are more abundant and more randomly arranged.

This process results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body's reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body cannot exactly reconstruct the tissue causing the new scar tissue to have a different appearance and texture than the surrounding healthy skin tissue. Scar tissue is commonly of minor functional quality and less resistant to UV rays. It is also barren of sweat glands and hair follicles.

Has your Skin been Scarred?

Skin affected by wounds will of course be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you apply a treatment cream to prevent possible scar formation. Other incidents that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion solution that uses skin renewal activators and soft physical abrasives will effectively remove new and old scars.

Scars are an inevitable consequence of an injury. Our body tries its best to cure wounds, but sometimes it's difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to apply a microdermabrasion product to aid the skin to properly remove scars.

Scars can now be safely eliminated thanks to BIO SKIN EXFOL, a natural skin care product that embodies one of the best remedial ingredients that Mother Nature can offer.
